Mission Statement
UOIT Central Stores operates as a service center.
UOIT Central Stores maintains a minimum stock level of scientific consumables and other critical supplies as required for the undergraduate programs, graduate studies and research laboratories. UOIT Central Stores acts as a purchasing agent to manage the total cost of ownership and balance the cost of on-hand inventory and special orders. The Store strives to provide a value added service with a minimal cost mark-up and to ensure that laboratory consumables, low value equipment and other critical supplies are available to the end user as they are required.
Benefits to using UOIT Central Stores
The two greatest advantages to this centralized purchasing strategy are reduced costs and guaranteed inventory of critical supplies. With the automated store processes, pricing agreements or blanket discounts from our prime sources of supply, manufacturing and distributor knowledge, vendor relationships with sales representatives, partnering with sustainable sources of supply, e-commerce, cumulative ordering and other cost management techniques, we are able to operate more effectively and efficiently utilizing an easily auditable system.

How it works
The Central Stores operates using Microsoft Point of Sale (POS) & Retail Management System (RMS). Once a Central Store account has been created, authorized users can shop at the store with all charges applied to the account number that the budget holder has provided. Special orders and requests can be sent to centralstores@uoit.ca.
Monthly, the store billing cycle is closed and journal voucher(s) (JV) that encompasses all sales transactions to both operating and research accounts is sent to accounting where the expenses are drawn from individual accounts. Once the JV has been posted in F.A.S.T. the payment is processed against your store account, statement and payment copies are sent to the main contact through the office mail.Cost
UOIT Central Stores works with its distributors to reduce costs and lower or eliminate fees, where the cost savings are passed on to the end user. While our focus is to act as a service center we do add a small price premium to stocked items and specials orders, which is the same for all users. This is charged to help offset some of the costs of maintaining the Store's operation.
Location
The UOIT Central Stores is located in UA1402, which is on the first floor of the UA Science building in the most eastern hall behind the elevator.
Hours
The Store operates between the hours of 9am and 4:30 pm. Please call x3447 to ensure the availability of the operator.
