Here the authors review the functions, abbreviation procedures, strategies, and working memory constraints of note taking with the aim of improving theoretical and practical understanding of the activity.


Requirements for electronic note taking systems: A field study of note taking in university classrooms

by Kibum Kim, Scott A. Turner and Manuel A. Pérez-Quiñones

In this study, the authors investigated a number of electronic notetaking systems used by students at a university over the course of a semester. They identified issues when evaluating electronic note taking systems. Findings show the task of note taking in the classroom is not well supported.
